Obamas to produce Netflix shows

Barack and Michelle Obama have declared their next plan – to be behind the camera for a variety of series’ on Netflix.

They’ve named their production company “Higher Ground Productions,” and they will produce several different things over the next few years.

“Barack and I have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire us, to make us think differently about the world around us, and to help us open our minds and hearts to others,” Michelle Obama said in a news release “Netflix’s unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories we want to share, and we look forward to starting this exciting new partnership.”

The shows they intend to work on are as yet unannounced. They will be aired in 190 countries, according to the release.

“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” said former President Barack Obama. “That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix – we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”

The Obamas signed a $65 million book deal in early 2017 with Penguin Random House. Michelle Obama’s third book, Becoming, will hit shelves on November 13. You can preorder a copy on Amazon.

In an interview with People, Barack and Michelle Obama shared their very different tastes in books, movies and television shows.

We don’t know exactly what the content of the shows will be, we can bet that they’ll be high-quality coming from the Obama family.
